Medical Humor on Arthritis
Call it goof up’s, faux pax or mistakes, we have redefined it as medical humor. People need to live up a little, take things with a pinch of salt and just be content. A little less of empathy and a little less of frowning would cheer up things around us. If you are tired with frequently having to spill- out- the -beans about your diagnosis from your next door neighbor or those regular people you meet during your park walks, then this is a solid wham for them. We are sorry to say but playing the kind ‘agony aunt’ can be a real bummer sometimes. Letting go of some situations never would hurt anybody. Look up people and learn to call a-spade-a-spade. Let us take a look at some examples to show you exactly what we mean.
Hall of horrors
Ignorance is not always bliss. It’s funny to see people taking a precautionary step away from arthritic patients. It is truism and humor at its best. To begin with, it is not at all contagious and an autoimmune disease. The picture takes a cue in representing the mayhem that goes when somebody sneezes inside the rheumatologist's room. The panic clearly depicts the ignorance.
Giving the hoods to a commercial
There are not one but trillions of commercials running on TV including advertisement on arthritis medications. Today viewers are more intelligent and no more enchanted with phony commercials. So one day, a commercial can just popped up on television and make people go ‘what’? Familiarizing them with the medications may just bring out the disdain in them and more disbelief.
To eat or not to eat
The amount of dictum's that come up with food rules is a sham. The moment one patient sits to pick up a food item, a full lash on follows the next moment. The droll here is at the end patients are unable to make a distinction between the so called ‘healthy’ foods and ‘unhealthy’ foods. With the daily ranting and exaggeration on scrumptious looking foods accelerating the growth of arthritis, tired patients may just wish for an invisible button.
The irony of the situation
Initially when one gets diagnosed with arthritis, they are met with a lot of support and empathy. So the whole affection takes one to a different level. When the fuss dies down, the reality creeps in. The mask of the good ‘ol jolly face uncovers the look of dismal. This slow realization is a juxtaposition of sarcasm, bitter satire and the quirk of fate. It brings out a dry wry humor.
Beware to shake it all off
There is no harm in letting your hair down once in a while. But for an arthritic patient, things might get limiting. If we have to imagine them shaking a leg the whole night, the morning after gets horrendous for them. The throbbing pain in their body doubles up the aftermath fun.
Instant reflex action seems far fetched
To get a fast reaction from a person suffering from arthritis is a tad ambitious. It’s funny to think wherein in a fight scene, they might to storm out but they simply cannot with their creaky bony joints.
The fear of the unknown
After a rather fatigue session of their intensive treatment, patients tend to get discomfited. They experience these out-of-place moments and do not know how to use their clumpy hands and feet. It is a funny sight to watch as they try to figure out what to do. These are some instances people come up with. Reactions are normal yet there is a comical element to it.
